Diana Panther 31 Compact.
I liked this air rifle from the moment i picked it up, straight out of the box it just somehow felt right, im not normally a fan of synthetic stocked rifles but the Diana proved to be the exception, panels of chequering on the grip and forend gave my large hands a non slip grip, at 3.6kg this was no heavyweight, its shortened compact barrel made cocking a cinch, its clear open sights locked on the target which i'd set up very quickly, its fireing cycle was smooth and quick with no noticable "twang" the factory setting for the trigger needed no adjustment and was perfect for me.
I arrived at a friends farm just before dusk, he had been having trouble with rats which seemed to be getting bolder by the day, several visits from a local pest control company had little to no effect on the rats, armed with the Panther and half a tin of RWS .22 cal hollow point pellets, i then found a good place to hide which gave me a clear view of the empty barn and a grain silo, during the next one and a half hours i bagged seven rats! both my friend and i were delighted! Doning a pair of heavyweight gloves i picked up the pesky critters and put them in a strong canvas sack, my friend promising to dispose of them safely later...
Was i impressed with the Panther?...you betcha i was, as to what my airgunning mates would make of this fine synthetic compact air rifle i didn't know...nor did i really care!
