As  I am what my friends affectionately call me a watch nerd I love looking for and buying watches. It is the joy of owning a great classic watch and even more so if it is a little known one as its then like wearing a secret.
I have been lucky in the past to purchase some good bargains  but you must do your research. First never buy a watch without its box and papers as this will reduce the value considerably. Always check that the model and variant of the watch was actually made by the company. Then try to check serial numbers. This is not that easy also check that the serial number and the papers all tie up. Last and not least never pay more than you are prepared to loose if you are not 100% sure of the provenance. The last thing to do is as soon as the watch is received is take it to an authorised dealer and have it checked. This is is well worth any charge if the watch cost a lot. If a fake and believe me there are some brilliant ones out there get in touch with Ebay imediately their fraud department are very helpful. Lastly and possibly the first thing to remember is read the write up not just once but several times as it is so easy to read what you think it ought to say and not exactly what it does say.
