===================

As of March 31st 2008 - eBay banned digitally delivered items.

What does this mean? Simply anything that is sent via email or any other online method of delivery is against eBay rules and regulations.

What does this include? This includes music, movies, eBooks, photographs, pictures, software, and other creative content.

Examples - An MP3 file, An eBook, Wallpaper for a computer, Recipes in electronic format, domain names, online services, photos, videos

What happens if I break these rules? Any of the following are possible:

- Listing cancellation

- Limits on account privileges

- Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

- Loss of PowerSeller status

- Account suspension

- Referral to law enforcement

- Referral to the rights owner, with disclosure of personal contact information

So what can I do now - if I can't sell ebooks?

Well, believe it or not - you do have options to carry on / start making money...

1. Sell it as a physical product. i.e

- Burn to cd, dvd or disc and send it.

- Print it and send it (a piece of paper IS a pysical product)

- Have the delivery automated online using another provider

2. Did you know that you can infact sell digitally delivered products via ebays classified ads. They run for as little as 30 days, are just as effective as an auction, are listed in google searches, you can include a business no if you require

Overall is it a good thing that eBay has banned digital products?
Well believe it or not - there are advantages..

1. Increased perceived value - by selling a physical product, the customer is actually receiving something in the post..

2. One of the reasons eBay has made this decision is to stop honest people being scammed out of their hard earned money. One popular scam was for a seller to build up their feedback using digital products to make them look credible because of all the positive feedback received - they would then sell items at high prices and not send them - then close their account!
