My son is a full-blown Halloween addict...and frankly I think a little bit of that Halloween obsession comes from his mama. Haha! Growing up, it was always one of my favourite holidays and still is to this day. I think I loved Halloween as much as I did because my mum always made it a point to make it a special time for us. In fact, she made every Halloween fun. From decorations, to meals and even story time, the days and weeks that led up to the holiday at hand were filled with celebration.
This year I decided to take a page out of my mother's book and make Halloween extra special for my everything spooky lovin' kiddo. The first step will be setting up a spooky  tablescape for my family to enjoy while noshing on their October meals...Yep, that's right. We celebrate ALL month long!

Table Runner

Start with a  table runner... I'm a big fan of runners. I have them for all of my favourite holidays. They're easier than tablecloths and if you do want to use a tablescape, you can put a runner on top of one for some extra interest and texture. For this tablescape, I chose to forgo the tablecloth though and simply used a spider web runner as the base for my tablescape.

Next add some little accents that amp up the spooky factor... Spiders do that beautifully. You can pick up  plastic spiders for next to nothing and they'll work just fine. But you could also check out your local specialty boutiques for spiders with a little somethin' somethin' like the metallic backed spiders in my tablescape!

Big Impact

Next add some larger elements to your design. And it never hurts to balance your creepy with some cute. This plush crow is most definitely cute, yet still looks at home as part of a Halloween tablescape!

Bigger Impact

And then add an even larger element...Haha! This fuzzy spider stands a head above the crow and adds balance to the tablescape. It serves as the main focal point and really ties the whole look together.

Sparkle

And finally...add some sparkle. This is pretty much my mantra. When in doubt... add some sparkle!  Glittery skulls add just the right amount of glitz to our somewhat neutral coloured tablescape!
