I got married just over a week and a half ago, the day was brilliant! its a shame it went so fast! As we didnt (i still dont!) have a massive amount of money to splash out like some people can, we decided to make it very budget. we only had around £1000 to get everything! This included suits, flowers, My wedding dress, hair and make up etc!

it is do able! my wedding in total cost around £980

here is a guide of what i did to get our special day so cheap!
(I do apologise in advance for poor spelling and grammar!)

Pre loved is still as good as new!

yes my dress was pre-loved and pre-used! there was nothing wrong with it at all, actually i got complimented on how lovely my dress was! Yes so someone else has used it for their wedding, so what?? it shown someone else happiness in the past it can show you as well! plus it can help with the budget too! my dress new would have been around £800-£1000 depending on the bridal shop I went to, i got it for £150! that is a massive saving! If you can still funny with preloved dresses, there is also chinese made ones too. Yes again these can be risky but i personally have known more success stories with them than bad. If you do go for a chinese import from Ebay remember to always check their reviews! These can be from anywhere from £40-£200 depending on what you are looking for in a dress, most of the time are custom made with your messurements!

this was the same to by daughters dress, I got it £12 on Ebay, was suppose to have been £45 new! the dress itself was used for 2 hours so it was pretty new! As for my Bridesmaids, they ever so kindly bought their own dresses! I told them to get something which follows the colour scheme but make sure its comfortable for you. I wouldnt want to put my bridesmaids in dresses which they were going to be uncomfortable in all day! I would much rather them get something which is smart, comfortable and they can use it again!

charity shops are your best friend!

Yes people like to turn their noses up at charity shops but believe me, you can find some amazing items in there for crazy cheap, while doing so and buying you are also helping a charity! nothing bad about that!

I got my partners suit from a charity shop believe it or not, it was a perfect fit! came with trousers, waitscoat and jacket.....for £10! it still had the M&S label on it which means I hasn't even been used! Looking at the tags the jacket alone would have been £65! To make his look complete we got a cheap white shirt and some nice shoes....done!

With our best man we asked him to use a suit that he has already. there was no point spending money on a new suit when he had been to multiple weddings this year and had a lovely collection of suits which were never used again. He was more than willing!

Someone elses misfortune could be great for you

Don't mean so sound nasty but it is true. we got our flowers so cheap because someone had to cancel their wedding, these were already made.....therefore going cheap! I got my bridal posy, 3 bridesmaids posy, child's wand, 3 men button holes and 3 women button holes for £50! I then decorated them my self by adding fluttering butterflies (these were bought on Ebay!)  for an extra £5! bargain! the person i bought the flowers off also changed the colour scheme to mine as well with no extra cost!
this is actually one of the photos from the photoshoot i won! so yes this is me!

The Most Expensive doesn't mean its better!

Just because the photographer is expensive doesn't make them the best! The photographer we used was just starting her business up and needed to start up a portfillio. We had seen her work before, and she was brilliant. I actually won a photo-shoot with her on Facebook about 9 months ago. and she did an amazing job, she made me feel so comfortable with myself (where i didnt before) and we actually had a great laugh together. I then decided to use her as my photographer. I spend £240 on her, I had her from the morning, into the evening, with 100 photos, a photo album personally done and two large canvases! She had a poorly little girl at the time so i did ask if she ever needed to leave to just go as I feel that it more important. But instead she asked if she can bring her son over (grandparent was looking after them) He joined in with all the other children playing and had no issues with him what so ever.

Working mens clubs and do your own buffet!

We didn't have a sit down meal, we are not that formal and I personally would get bored and may not even like the food they serve to me. This and also a lot of our family and friends had young children, keeping them busy to eat would just be stressful when I didn't want my day to be like that! so Instead we had a couple of hours where people just go straight to the pub and have a few drinks and have the buffet available straight away. This will let people pick at the food and have a decent price pint, I went to a wedding which cost me so much, and this was because the drinks were so expensive! the club i booked, a pint of coke was £1.00! I couldnt tell you how much drinks were as people just bought them us! but everyone commented on how brilliant the prices were.

we paid £90 for the room and we got £40 of it back as long as we left it in the condition we got it. As for the buffet, We spend £130 on food (as my partner worked at ASDA we did get 10% as well) this also included the evening meal of sausage casserole! we still had food left over which I offered people to take home as well as bar staff who were fantastic on the night. this fed 100+ people!

Our cake....well i personally don't see the need of spending hundreds of pounds on something which is going to either get eaten or just left to become stale. Our Cake was an ASDA chosen by you large cupcake at the top and a few packs of their own cupcakes which cost around £3 a pack. Yes its not glamorous but again people thought it was professionally made and tasted lovely. Our cake stand cost us £3 (bought from ebay!)

Enjoy your day!

Yes my sort of day isn't going to take to anyone's fancy, but we managed to do our day so cheap. We have a lot more money to spend on ourselves for the honeymoon or to make home improvements if we wanted to. Yes its only one day but you still need to think realisically when it comes to money. I wouldn't change my day at all and either would my new husband.

the ceremony its self was formal (we have to have some lovely photos!) but when it came to the evening do all our guests (mainly children) came back dressed up in Halloween gear! everyone enjoyed themselves and had a great time and loved the fact that there was no stress and formality of a sit down meal.

Our wedding gifts weren't anything massive, but our bridesmaids and best man loved them - we got the best man a personalised glass plaque and the bridesmaids got a glass each, a Yankee votive candle and a bottle of bubble, all put in a personalised gift bag with their names and the date of the wedding, in also our wedding colours! All minus the glasses and the bubble was bought from ebay,

I hope this guide helped you with some of your unanswered decisions. Have a fantastic wedding day!
