You’ve got your party season look nailed (bravo!), and have stocked up on the best underwear to support your killer curves. Now, you can totally put your feet up until your first invite lands in your inbox, right? Wrong!

Finishing touches to any outfit are everything and if you forget those, you might as well just pack up and go home – or even not bother going out. We’re talking sparkling jewellery, the most glamorous clutch bags, party perfect handbags and cover ups to swoon over.

These little extras are fab for so many reasons: They can breathe new life into an outfit that’s seen more parties than Paris Hilton, draw attention to areas you want to pay attention to, and disguise any not-so-fabulous areas.

Even the most standard little black dress can sky rocket if it gets some personalised love in the form of a finishing touch.

So, are you ready to dive into the wonderful world of finishing touches? Buckle up...

1. Gorgeous Jewels

Unlike waif types, voluptuous figures can easily pull off wearing statement jewellery. For example, a curvy girl wearing giant earrings looks fab.

First things first: Invest in a few pairs of gobstopper gems to hang on your ears. The more glitter, the better. Choose chandel-ears (see what we did there?) with a mix of colours to lift a plain outfit, or go classic with clear jewels. A pair of silvery lobe dazzlers will work with any look and could even live past party season. Come 2017, slip them on with your jeans and a tee to boost a boring, everyday look.

There are so many ways to play up the neckline using jewellery and in bonus news, 2016’s lust for chokers knows no bounds. If you want to join the choker army, pick up a simple black piece with a wider band over a skinny, which is way more flattering on a curvier neck.

Alternatively, you could go all-out and bedeck your neck in gems. Perfect for scoop or boat neck tops and dresses, a wow necklace will add glitz and draw the eye to the décolletage – ideal if your cleavage is something you want to subtly shout about.
If you are a fan of a cocktail ring, pick up a few and wear them on different fingers. Avoid looking like a mad Miss Haversham-type by sticking with a maximum of two on one hand, one on the other.

And finally, don’t forget the wrists when piling on the bling. A masculine watch is perfect for curvy ladies, with the large face and thick strap creating the illusion of a skinnier wrist. Pick one that’s metallic to really up the glam stakes.

2. Bangin’ Bags

We’re not Beyoncé, no matter how much we tell ourselves we are. So, going out without a bag isn’t going to happen. After all, we need space for all of our essentials – lipstick, mobile, back-up lipstick, purse, keys and gum. Oh, and maybe an emergency lipstick.

If you like to keep your belongings close, a traditional clutch is your bag. However, avoid teeny ones and go for oversized. Another clever illusion, a larger clutch will make you look smaller, plus, it can hold more – which is always a bonus.

Clutch bags are a commitment – you can hardly leave it on the side while you go and tear up the dancefloor – so instead, dancing queens should pick up a hands-free party bag, like a cross-body bag. These are pretty much the bag to party with.

3. Cool Cover Ups

Unless you’re a rock hard Northern bird (and even if you are), journeys to and from winter parties are notoriously chilly. So, you can skip extortionate Uber fares in a bid to stay warm by popping on a cosy cover up.

Puffer jackets are the IT coats to buy this season, but can be hard to pull off if you’re any size bigger than Bella Hadid. If you’re keen on trying the padded trend, look for a coat with thin, less puffy quilts and stick with red or black colours: They’re the easiest to wear.

Parka jackets are still cool. Chuck one over your party dress for that instant ’90s Kate Moss-vibe and with the added bonus of a hood, who really needs to carry an umbrella? A longer parka will cover the butt and give you some added confidence.

A long, chunky cardigan is the perfect slinky dress cover-up. The clash of luxe and cosy will give any outfit fashion editor cred, so pick a cardi with a simple knit and large pockets that sit close to the hem. The straight lines will streamline the figure, while the pockets draw the eyes downwards.

For a mega glam finish, just throw on a monster fur – the bigger, the better! A big fur will create that all important triangle shape (wider shoulders), thus slimming the bottom half.

Looking for something simple? You can never go wrong with a fitted biker jacket. One that pulls the figure in and cinches the waist will look hot over a party dress.
