Fitting ballet shoes

Ballet shoes are classical made 1-2 sizes smaller than normal UK street shoes sizes.  When buying ballet shoes always remember to purchase shoes 1 size larger.

From experience toddler ballet shoes may be better 1-2 sizes bigger than normal shoe sizes.

Attaching elastic:
Some brands of ballet shoes come with both ends of the elastic pre-attached - lucky you no sewing!!!
Most come with only one end attached - if this is the case - simply put the shoe on the dancer and trim the elastic if needed then sew in the same location, opposite the presewn side.
For those shoes that do not come with elastic attached. - fold the top of the shoe down there is usually a natural fold, and then attach the elastic at the creases of the shoe.

Attaching ribbons:
If ribbon is needed you will need approx 2-2.5m - cut this into four equal lengths then fold the top of the shoe down there is usually a natural fold, and then attach the elastic at the creases of the shoe.

Care of shoes:
After class shoes should be allowed to dry out to ensure they last as long as possible. Breathable ballet shoes bags can be purchased to keep ballet shoes seperate from the rest of your dancewear.
