In the last 15 years of playing the beautifull game i have to often seen people with the wrong footwear for the condition of the pitch, which can and often does lead to career ending injures (i found out the hard way).

What boots should i pick???

In most cases boots are listed as SG, FG, HG, AG. What do these mean???

SG - Soft Ground

Ideal for when the pitch is soft and wet, most SG boots tend to come as 6/8 aluminum studs/clip in blades. A big no no is to ware SG boots on hard dry or Astro pitch as you are likely to cause yourself more harm than good (blisters, twisted ankle ect)

FG - Firm Ground

Ideal for when the pitch is natural and dry, most FG boots tend to come as molded studs/blades and have around double the studs/blades as SG boots to spread the weight and giving better traction and less chance of blisters, better weight balance. Although alot of people ware them on Soft pitches the traction isnt as good in wet conditions and you are likely to slip around.

HG - Hard Ground

Ideal for when the pitch is hard and dry similar to the FG boots, molded studs are alittle shorter improving the weight balance on hard pitches. Can also be a good choice for Astro Pitches.

AG - Astro Grass

Ideal for Asto pitches, more molded studs and alittle shorter often hollow improving the weight balance on hard/astro pitches.

ALWAYS BUY THE BEST YOU CAN AFFORD

IT COULD BE THE DIFFERANCE IN PLAYING AT THE THEATRE OF DREAMS OR IN FRONT OF A MAN AND HIS DOG AT YOUR LOCAL PARK.

Top tip - If on a budget Buy last seasons high end boots (often found at around 1/2 price) rather than cheaper current model which will cost you about same if not more.
