Take your inspiration from the wintery outdoors and make your look sparkle this year
When it comes to fashion for Christmas it's very easy to reach for the classic festive jumper, but this year why not be inspired by London Fashion Week – which closed its doors just a few weeks ago – and stay on trend but cosy, this festive season? We've put together a quick guide of what you should be wearing this Christmas to stay on trend for a jolly holly holiday!

12. The Christmas jumper

Okay, we just couldn't resist the classic Christmas jumper. Cosy, fun and very festive, try and find a hand knitted design to really achieve the full effect.
Find a design that features snowmen, Christmas trees, snowflakes or ever-popular stags. Perfect for guys and girls, team up with a pair of skinny  jeans and you're ready to go! There  is a huge range of women's Christmas jumpers available on eBay.

11. The fake fur accessory

It's getting cooler outside and to keep those ears snug and safe from the winter chill a big furry hat is perfect for when you head outdoors. Go for a style featuring animal ears for that extra-cute factor. You can find a wide range of styles, from leopard print to wolf to rabbit – but all using fake fur, of course!

Pair with a matching, snuggly scarf and thick gloves and you'll be ready to brave anything this winter snows at you.

10. The statement coat

As Winter rolls round you will need a comfortable, warm coat to wear while out and about. Go for something bold and structured, such as a duster coat, which looks great for those days out of the office and lunch dates at the weekend.

You could opt for something more casual, a Parka coat with a big fur lined hood will look stylish but still keep you snug while out walking the dog or when you need to make a last-minute dash to the shops on Christmas Eve morning for missing gravy granules.

9. The snood

Is it a scarf? Is it a hood? Well... it's both actually and the perfect accessory for all kinds of autumn/winter weather.

When there's just a slight chill in the air wearing your snood as a scarf should keep you pleasantly warm. When the weather makes a turn towards the chilly lifting up your snood at the back and wearing around your head like a hood will keep ears and neck lovely and cosy. There are no extra accessories to carry around and leave behind in the pub when choosing the snood option.

8. The bobble hat

Opt for something bright and fun to top off your Christmas outfit, with a cute bobble hat. Don't buy into the idea that they are just for kids. We think it's only right that you team your hat with a pair of matching mittens (tying them together with a long piece of string, like you did at school, is optional).

Bobble hats are quite simply great casual wear and look great when out and about doing the shopping, walking the dog or even going for a run on dark, chilly evenings with a friend – it will also help keep your headphones in your ears, it's practical and looks great!

7. The work party dress

The work Christmas party is an occasion where you should dress to impress and rather than pulling out your usual LBD, opt for something bolder with a little red dress instead.

A skater-style dress, worn with heels and a small clutch bag, is the perfect party outfit, without trying too hard.
The little red dress is festive and bright, it will impress your work colleagues and of course make you the star of the party.

6. The knee high boot

Perfect for pulling on to complement that Christmas jumper and skinnies combo that you should be wearing, it's a good idea for every woman to have a pair of knee high boots, ready and waiting in their wardrobe, to wear when the weather gets a little bit colder.

Great for walking through autumn leaves, in the rain or slushy snow, the knee high boot is the ultimate winter wardrobe staple and goes with pretty much anything.

5. The turtle neck jumper

Many may screw up their noses at the thought of a turtle neck jumper, but if you opt for a chunky, cable knit design you'll look less Uncle Fester and more smugly ready for winter, while others freeze in lesser garments. You could try to knit one yourself but there are plenty of designs online to choose from if that idea fills you with horror. An oversized jumper looks great with black jeans or even a pair of bold, festive leggings...

4. The festive legging

Adorned with reindeers, snowmen and snowflakes, festive leggings are on a par with the Christmas jumper when it comes to classic, festive cheesiness. They make an outfit loud, exciting and more than anything are comfortable. Great to wear on Christmas morning while unwrapping presents and eating all the chocolate in the house before your Christmas dinner has even gone in the oven.

3. The white jumper

A soft, fluffy white jumper is a nod to falling snow and perfect to wear at home, while curled up on the sofa or with a high-waisted, leather pencil skirt – perfect for the long days at the office counting down to the luxury of an extra-long break in December. It is a piece of clothing that can be worn on chilly days throughout the year as well, so you definitely get your money's worth.

2. The cloak coat

The cloak coat is this winter's newest addition and one that looks set to be extremely popular. Great for the transition from autumn into winter, the cloak coat can be worn if the weather is cool with a light cardigan underneath or when it gets very cold over the top of a thick, knitted jumper. It'll help you achieve the layering trend that many are copying from this year's London Fashion Week catwalks.

Cloak coats come with or without hoods, but to be really on trend opt for a design featuring a fur-lined hood and to keep it festive try to find a bright red one, perfect to wear on that brisk walk, after a big Christmas lunch.

1. The little bit of everything

If you just can't make your mind up, go for something that incorporates a little bit of everything. A red, knitted dress is the perfect choice and looks great worn day or night. Be sure to wear it with your statement coat, snuggly snood, over the knee boots and that cute animal hat for the ultimate outfit for the Christmas period. It's Christmaaaaaaas, go mad!
