I'm a design graduate and am always on the lookout for cool furniture and housewares to upcycle, so I've set up a few saved searches on my iPad app. I simply search for a loose term and put in a distance radius of where I would pick it up from. Then ebay lets me know when there are new items that match my search and I can look through them! There's a lot of trawling through items that you may not like, but due to the many descriptions that people can use when posting their ads, it's better to be vague with your search term. Sometimes I find things I would never have searched for or thought of, and it's also nice to get inspiration and price guides from others who are in the up cycling business!

Some items come up more than others, and it's always good to get a flavour of the market if you were upcycling furniture as a business, as you don't want to try and break into an already saturated market.
You can also get a feel for what the quality on the market is too, there is a lot of shabby chic, but some is more shabby than the rest!
