A lifetime in outdoor modelling

I have been advising, consulting, designing and building outdoor railways for over 20 years. These are for private or commercial clients. For their own enjoyment or as public displays (Merrivale model Village - Gt. Yarmouth).
I prefer to build G-Scale because this is the most realistic - it is in the outside world and  provides all the usual railway challenges, water, tunnels and changes of ground level - best on sloping ground.
This gauge also has the most available accessories, and of course live steam or digital.
There is also a large menue of rolling stock - from ancient narrow gauge steam, in various parts of the world - to the German ICE  express (I change this four coach modern model into Eurostar and UK high speed trains where clients require it)

I was instrumental and appeared (as 'expert') in the Discovery Channel 15 part series - "Garden Railways". I wrote the book to go with the series "Garden Railways From The Ground UP" (Amazon and grsuk.co).

I also founded the British outline Buildings range of high quality resin cast kits - and can still supply these built and painted. As a railway photographer in the Chief Civil Engineers at Paddington during the change over from steam to diesel I learned the secrets of Brunel bridges and viaducts.
My first responsibility was the vast collection of old railway photographs, many on glass plates - even the portraits of Brunel himself (he also invented public toilets for Paddington Station, then in a wooded valley)
I design the garden too - a rockery can provide tunnels, a pond, bridges, and changes of level (slopes) viaducts Brunel stone and timber trestle style.
