GHD Straighteners - A cautionary tale

Like if this guide is helpful

I bought Limited Edition White GHD's as a Christmas present.  I paid £99.00 including postage.  They arrived boxed and in pristine condition.  I purchased from an e-bay seller with an excellent score.  GHD's stopped working in March and I returned them for repair.  Have just been told they are fake.  I'm sure the seller from whom I purchased sold them in good faith and he has agreed to refund the purchase price.

Even Boots the Chemist has had a massive recall as the GHD's they were selling were found to be fake.  If buyers from a top company can get caught what chance do individual purchasers have?

Jamella (GHD's repair company) said that they only supply to hairdressers, so where are all these other sellers on e-bay picking up their stock?

I've learned my lesson and as soon as I've purchased a replacement I will check the code number on GHD's website.  If you do this straightaway and have paid by paypal, you should, at least, get your money back should they not be the genuine article.
