HELP! My Re-Manufactured Cartridge won't work

Re-Manufactured ink cartridges are original ink cartridges that have undergone a re-cycling process which involves:-

  1. Cleaning or flushing the existing cartridge of all residual ink.
  2. Re-filling the cartridge with the appropriate type of ink
  3. Priming the cartridge.
  4. Re-packaging.

We try to ensure that all the cartridges we supply are properly re-manufactured in clean room environments rather than just syringe filled. This will minimise the risk of contamination and reduce air bubbles which would compromise the quality of the print cartridge.

All our cartridges are filled with the correct amount of ink usually to the capacity of the cartridge. Some manufacturers fill certain cartridges to only half its capacity. For instance, you may require a Lexmark 17, we will usually supply a Lexmark 16 cartridge shell filled with twice as much ink.

Occasionally, you may experience problems when you install the cartridge in your printer. This can happen for a number of reasons:

THE PRINT QUALITY IS VERY POOR

Run the head cleaning and nozzle cleaning routines in you printer maintenance software until the print out is clear.

THE CARTRIDGE PRINTS, BUT ONE OF THE COLOURS IS MISSING

The printhead may have dried up due to lack of use, storage at a high temperature, or the ink at the nozzle head may have congealed clogging one or more of the nozzles.

This can be cured by pressing a cloth or tissue dampened with hot water against the print-head for a 10 seconds until ink can be seen on the cloth. With a Black cartridge you will see a solid black line on the tissue, with a Colour cartridge you should see a Yellow, Magenta and Cyan band of ink. If you don't get a result at first try again.

In extreme cases where the cartridge has been left unused for some time you can dip the tip of the print head in boiling water for a couple of minutes until the ink discolours the water. Then dry the cartrdige off before trying the damp tissue test.

THE PRINT QUALITY IS FAINT OR STREAKY

Sometimes after being refilled there may be some pockets of air at the printhead. Once ink is flowing through the nozzles this problem should disappear.

Run the head cleaning and nozzle cleaning routines in you printer maintenance software until the print out is clear.

THE PRINTER DISPLAYS A MESSAGE SUGGESTING 'INK IS OUT'

When replacing an ink cartridge it must be calibrated and re-aligned.

This is usually done the the Printer Maintenance software that is installed with your printer. Generally this can be accessed by going to 'Printer and Faxes' and 'Right Clicking' on the printer icon.

THE PRINTER DOES NOT PRINT AT ALL

Have you removed the 'Blue/yellow tape from the printhead?

Have you removed the transportation clip?

Have you installed the cartridge properly as described in your printer manual?
