WHAT THINGS TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING KAREN MILLEN
I have already writtten a guide on how to spot fake Karen Millen on ebay - this is a further guide on things to look for when purchasing an item, and questions to ask, to avoid your receiving a possible fake!
There are unfortunately, an increasing number of counterfeit items for sale on Ebay and these include a huge number of Karen Millen - dresses, tops & shoes. At the moment I have not seen or been offered any handbags - so these are safe FOR THE MOMENT. Until Karen Millen themselves do something about this problem then it will only get worse.
Firstly - if an item is too good to be true - it probably is. Out of each listing page on ebay I would say that possibly 40% are counterfeit - surprised??
Think of the poor people who paid full price for the real deal??
Check your seller thoroughly & read all feedback - a seller of fake items may still have decent feedback ( ebayers may not realised they have been duped till a few weeks down the line - when the dress has fallen apart, feedback has been exchanged and the paypal dispute deadline has long passed) - so check the negatives & neutrals that they have received. Because of the huge amount of dresses that are being sold daily a negative can quickly be on the 2nd or 3rd page and is easily missed in your rush to get a so called bargain!
CHECK OUT 'GOOFBAY' - YOU CAN ENTER A SELLERS ID AND IT WILL QUICKLY BRING UP ALL OF THEIR NEGATIVE/NEUTRAL FEEDBACKS WITHOUT THE NEED TO SEARCH THROUGH HUNDREDS OF PAGES!!
Many of the ebayers who sell counterfeit 'KM' maintain that their items are 100% genuine - direct from the manufacturer??? WHAT??
DO YOU SERIOUSLY BELIEVE THAT KAREN MILLEN ALLOW THEIR DRESSES TO BE SOLD AT £30/40 TO EBAYERS BEFORE THEY ARE EVEN IN THE SHOP?? THE FACTORIES THAT MANUFACTURE THE GARMENTS IN CHINA - SIMPLY COPY THEM WITH THE SAME PATTERN AND SELL THEM ON - EVEN IF THEY ARE MADE IN THE SAME FACTORY THEY ARE STILL COPIES ,STILL COUNTERFEIT ,STILL ILLEGAL!
SELLERS - You can get Louis Vuitton, Chloe, Gucci, Dior etc etc from these same manufacturers, do you think they are real as well?
Also if you get an item you suspect to be fake - get it checked out by KM! and leave the negative feedback to warn others!
Always ask your seller if they would be happy for you to take the garment to KM for authenticity confirmation - I always find that this is the only way to see what sort of seller you are dealing with. If your seller does not respond or says unsure where their garments are from - then there is a high probability that they are counterfeit. Honest sellers know exactly where their garments are from
Any seller of counterfeit goods is not doing you any favours - they are not selling these dresses 1/2 price and making a loss in order for you to get a bargain - these dresses cost between £30-40 and so the profit margin is huge. The dresses look fab when you first receive them, but the inferior fabrics and manufacture will soon make the dress appear like something from 'primark', and your so called bargain will quickly turn into something that can no longer be worn!
If you are struggling to obtain a dress from Karen Millen, then how come a seller on Ebay has 20+ that they can sell for 1/2 price and any size you wish? POSSIBLY COUNTERFEIT?
Ask the seller for the code on the KM label - a lot of times this can be wrong - doesnt mean that when it is right it is not a counterfeit - just another thing to ask.
Also the sizing of an item is a big giveaway - Karen Millen genuine items are cut slightly smaller - they dont seem to design for women with bigger than a b/c cup bust
Counterfeit garments are rushed through quickly and sizing is all over the place. You may be lucky and the dress fits - but it is just LUCK!.
A counterfeit Karen Millen item is generally very small and wont be cut correctly - a true KM fashionista would be able to tell that straightaway. It wont flatter your figure, the stitching will be shoddy and it will just feel inferior.
KM items are expensive for a reason - quality fabrics - superior design - flattering shapes - you wont get any of that with a counterfeit
Just consider as well; that part of the attraction to Karen Millen is high quality - limited availability - beautifully made dresses. So where's the attraction in turning up to a party wearing the same as 3 or 4 other girls??
If you wish to purchase counterfeit goods, and are aware of what you are going to receive, then that is entirely your descision , and I am not here to tell people what to do. BUT remember that counterfeit goods are illegal - simple as that!!
But for many honest people out there - it is just not right
