HP ink cartridges have embedded in them a small micro-chip. In addition to priniting the chip also initializes the cartridge.
If you are buying HP cartridges from a seller you must establish that the cartridge has not been put into the printer and that it is within its use by date that is printed on the cartridge.
If the cartridge has been installed in a printer however much it may have ink it can only be used on the printer into which it was first put into and initialized.
Also cartridges that have been initialized and removed from the printer part used may not work again as the printer heads get clogged.
the golden rules for HP cartridges are:
1. only buy an use a cartridge that has not been initialized
2. never de-install the cartridge as it may not work
trust this helps in preventing any disappointment
