What exactly are Keyboard Stickers?

Before we get to our 4 Step Guide on how to apply Keyboard Stickers, here is a brief description of what Keyboard Stickers are.

Keyboard Stickers are a high quality set of stickers which have been specifically designed to fit onto any standard sized keyboard. There are various different methods of printing the stickers. As the stickers are in constant use, they must be extremely durable. The best quality stickers are those that have been laminated after being  printed as this ensures lifetime durability.

Though many people use Keyboard Stickers to replace fading keyboards or to enhance visibility by increasing the size of the characters , they are most commonly used to help one type in different languages (take a look at the images below). At the end of this guide you will find a link where you can find a huge selection of Keyboard Stickers with over 50 different languages in a variety of colours to choose from.

1. Gently wipe each key with a Q-Tip

Step 1 - Clean the keyboard

The first step when applying Keyboard Stickers, is to ensure that the keyboard is clean and dust-free. Take a Q-Tip or any cotton tipped swab  and gently wipe clean each key.

If the keys are sticky or dirty, the Keyboard should be unplugged or switched off and using a damp cloth (there should be no liquid dripping from the cloth at all!), gently scrub the keys until they are clean. Then, make sure the keyboard is completely dry.
2. Using tweezers, carefully peel off one letter at a time

Step 2 - Peel off the Stickers

One can peel off the stickers using ones fingers, however in order to have complete control of where you place the sticker and to prolong the adhesivity, eyebrow tweezers (or any similar tool) should be used. Bend back the sticker sheet so that the top of the sticker you would like to remove is slightly apart from the sheet. Then using the tweezers, grasp the top corner of the sticker and gently pull away from the sheet.
3. Place the Sticker over the correct key

Step 3 - Sticking onto the Keyboard

Without delay, place the sticker carefully on top of the correct key. Lower the bottom part of the sticker first until it is aligned and centred with the key. Then push gently downwards, only releasing the tweezers  when the rest of the sticker has stuck to the key.
The sticker should now be perfectly placed over the key. ( Most Keyboard Stickers will come with a guide telling you where to place each character on your keyboard.)
4. Using a sponge, push down on all parts of the sticker firmly

Step 4 - Securing each Sticker

Using a dry sponge (or a similarly soft item) push down firmly on every part of the sticker so that it is entirely flat.

Now repeat the process until all the stickers have found their new home.
Lastly, step back, and admire your handiwork!
