The Front Porch

I love the idea of creating a front porch that is festive and welcoming, both to trick-or-treaters, and to your family and guests. It's an opportunity for a great first and lasting impression. The basics include fabulous Autumn garland, perhaps a new  door mat, and a few faux pumpkins.

It's in the details

Hay- get it in your life. I love building decor of off bales of hay. And adding a rustic feel is too much goodness. You can find some amazing  rustic tins, and  ladders like the ones shown here. It's really about creating a scene!

The wreath

Never underestimate the power of the  right wreath. It's beautiful, it sets the tone, and is often one of the cheaper ways to create a welcoming feel. I also love the idea of including  flannel or plaid blankets thrown on your outdoor furniture. It practically begs to be cosied up in with a cup of hot cider.

The Walkway

Do not forget the walkway up to your house. Some keys:  light it up! A trail of pumpkins, carved by your kiddos is both personal, and friendly. And, it's safer!

Have fun!

Seriously, go big. Do the autumn ribbon bows, the autumn foliage in cans, the pumpkins everywhere, make it amazing, welcoming, and don't forget to spend the time on the porch enjoying it.
