How to Install A Floating Shelf

Fitting Floating Shelves
 Concealed Wall Brackets

Tools Needed 

-     Drill (hammer drill for masonry walls)
-     Ø 10mm drill bit for masonry walls
-     Ø 6mm drill bit for timber frame walls
-     10mm spanner or small adjustable wrench (or pliers       and a tight grip)
-     Spirit Level
-     Pencil
-     Tape measure
-     Hammer

What’s in the package
-     Timber shelf with pre-drilled holes 
-     Hardened steel supporting pins with screw 
-     Galvanised steel washers
-     Nylon wall plugs

NOTE quantity of brackets depends on shelf length

For fitting to masonry wall
-    Decide where to position the shelf and use a tape measure and level to locate the
-    drill hole centres
-     Drill Ø 10mm hole and insert wall plug 
-     Slip washer onto screw thread and screw shelf support into wall plug. (The screw is
      off-centre with the bracket to allow for adjustment) 
-     Finally push the shelf all the way to the wall 


For fitting to timber frame
-     In most cases this requires drilling  new 13mm holes in the shelf to suit the timber studs
      where the shelf is to be located 
-    Locate the timber studs and align the shelf to suit. 
-     Drill Ø 6mm holes where the fixings are to be screwed into the wall
-     Slip washer onto screw thread and screw shelf support into wall stud. (The screw is
      off-centre with the bracket to allow for adjustment in levelling and bracket spacing)
-     Finally push the shelf all the way to the wall
