How to dress a Pear shaped body (women, body shapes)

Do you have a Pear body shape? If so, here's some tips for dressing by your body shape and what to look out for when purchasing a new dress!

  • Wear a good push up bra.  This should be an essential part of your wardrobe.  Boosting your boobs will help balance out your bigger lower half.
  • Choose outfits with V neck lines to accentuate your top half and draw the attention upwards. This also lengthens your top half!
  • Show off your shoulders with wide necklines or off the shoulder necklines!
  • Halternecks are so Pear!
  • Shoulder pads are in for you. They add volume to your top half, to balance out your hips.
  • Browse those A line dresses - they streamline your curves!
  • Wear patterns and prints! Stops your top half looking too small.
  • Go for wrap dresses! Draws attention to your small, womanly waist.
  • Choose skater dresses - go in at the waist and flare out over your thighs. Definitely a good look for the Pears.
  • Rock empire dresses - shows off your waist and skims your bum, hips and thighs!
  • Anything clingy on your bottom half.
  • Shift dresses - they'll drown out your shape, make your top half look even smaller and your bottom half bigger!
  • Horizontal stripes or prints.
  • Anything with embellishment round your middle - it will draw attention to your wide hips.
