Size guide for helmets & how to measure

To Determine what size helmet you need please follow these instructions.
Carefully measure around your head above the ears as per the diagram opposite. Take the measurement in inches or centimetres and then refer to the chart below for the correct helmet size. Do not guess your size as helmets must fit snugky and securely. Please also be aware that most people wear a balaclave under the helmet.

This is your nominal helmet size. You may wish to buy a slightly larger or smaller size depending on your personal preference.  If you prefer a tighter fit, buy one size smaller. Helmet linings do compress over time , so if your helmet is slightly tight to start with, this is quite normal. If possible, attempt to try on a helmet of the exact make and model that you require, so that you can be sure to order the correct size. On each helmet  you will see a size and corresponding code which you should use to order your desired helmet size. To assist you, we have included a useful helmet sizing chart and size conversion information below, showing centimetres and inches .

What to look for in a helmet:

Protection should be the first consideration. A full-face helmet gives the most protection since it covers all of the head and face. This design has a flip-up face shield that protects the eyes. A three-quarter or open-face helmet can also offer protection. It is constructed with the same basic components, but doesn’t offer the face and chin protection of full-face helmets.
If you wear an open-face helmet, you should use a snap-on face shield or a pair of goggles. Ordinary glasses or sunglasses are not sufficient eye protection for a motorcyclist or racing application. They can shatter or fly off, and they allow wind and airborne objects to reach the eyes.

Helmet care:

Most manufacturers will supply detailed instructions for helmet care. Generally, use only the mildest soap and avoid petroleum-based solutions to avoid breaking down helmet materials. Try not to place your helmet where it could fall to the ground and cause damage.
