IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO SELL OUTSIDE OF THE UK EBAY GUIDE

I have decided to write a guide regarding to selling to other countries outside of the UK and if you do not wish to do this.
It is important for all sellers who don't want to sell outside of the UK to read this guide as it will prevent problems arising in the future.
Please note that as a default setting eBay tick the box stating that YOU DO POST TO OTHER COUNTRIES via the Global Shipping Programme!
I just noticed this while using the 'selling similar items' as my own normal setting is to only sell wthin the UK and thought other eBay sellers should be aware of this.
The item you sell is sent to a Global Shipping Centre and then from there to the buyer in the other country and they have to pay extra postage and shipping fees.
You should also note that if an item is over a certain value then the buyer will also have to pay import duty / fees and other costs which they may not be happy about.
If they decline delivery then the item will be returned to you and you will have to give them a full refund including the original postage costs which will leave you out of pocket!
The eBay default setting should be that you don't want to sell to other countries and then have to tick the box if you do!
I personally no longer sell outside of the UK as I have had issues in the past where a countries Customs Officers have opened Brand New Factory Sealed Games and therefore reducing their value as a result, which is not good news for Game Collectors who want games still Factory Sealed and in Pristine Condition.
I have also had negative feedback as a result of this, despite the fact that it was not my fault.
The only option for Bad Feedback is to leave a calm, factual follow up comment and do not use any bad language as the buyer can get eBay to remove your comment!
The same is if you leave Positive Feedback for a buyer with what eBay determines is a Negative Comment then it will also be removed!
Also make sure that you set up an exclusion list and tick the boxes of countries (or continents) that you don't wish to sell to.
I have the following excluded locations: Africa, Asia, Central America, Oceania, Southeast Asia, South America, PO Box, which is everywhere outside of the UK.
I am sure many newbie sellers have been caught out by this plus a few sellers that have been selling for a long time or those that haven't sold anything for years and then deciding to do so.
I hope that you have found this guide useful and please don't forget to vote as it is free to do so and only takes a moment.
The more positive votes I receive the more inclined I am to spend my valuable free time writing more eBay Guides and Reviews for you.
Many thanks.
If you do have less than 5 feedback unfortunately you won't be able to vote (Sorry eBay rules and not mine!)
