A word of warning to anyone listing vinyl records by Shakin' Stevens. If the record is not on Epic label, then you run the serious risk of the listing being removed. The silly thing is that many of these items were issued by highly reputable companies such as EMI (Music for Pleasure), Pickwick (Hallmark) and others. The problem is that the company which asks eBay to remove the item puts the onus on the eBayer to prove that the item is legit instead of checking themselves. I have recently had three items removed, all of which were on general sale in just about every record shop, supermarket and chain store, for a long period of time without any actions being taken against the record label or stores concerned. My feeling is that they are seeing eBayers as easy prey and that they do not want to see people enjoying Shaky's early works, which were amongst his best, hoping instead that they buy the Epic stuff. My advice is, before listing a non Epic record, get confirmation from the record company that issued it that it is a legal recording. This way, you will have the backing you need to contest the removal.
I have spent 37 years in the record industry and like the majority of eBayers have never dealt in counterfeit or bootleg recordings and never will.
Perhaps this is just a Shakin' Stevens thing, as I have never had any other records, tapes or CDs removed.
