As I spend time here on eBay gathering up some of my favourite ideas and things to share with you, I've stumbled across some vintage goodies from the 80s and they've made me feel so nostalgic. I thought it would be fun to make a big list of good things for those of us who grew up in the 80s and need a little trip down memory lane.

Speak and Spell

I remember opening up my orange  Speak and Spell on Christmas morning and feeling awestruck that it would respond to me when I used it. The Best! (Can you still hear its electronic voice?)

Where's the Beef?

Those Wendy's commercials with that older woman who would say "Where the beef?" made my little brother laugh and laugh. Looking back they are a bit odd, but still such a classic. And they were also very popular based on the array of  memorabilia available.

Diff'rent Strokes

Speaking of classic one-liners, I've been known to still say "What you talkin' about Willis" from time to time. Diff'rent Strokes was one of my favourite shows a long long time ago. And it is totally available on  DVD.

E.T.

When E.T. came out, my brother was just beginning to walk and I remember thinking he was a bit like E.T. as he bobbled around. He even had a  stuffed E.T. that he'd sleep with. So cute! There is a lot of fantastic vintage goodness available for the E.T. fan in your world.

The Bangles

It's possible that I think about my school boyfriend every time I hear "Eternal Flame" by The Bangles. And Monday mornings are always better with a little "Manic Monday," yes? You can get all their hits  here.

The Superbowl Shuffle

So maybe this one stands out to me because I grew up near Chicago, but I still smile thinking about the Bears and their Super Bowl Shuffle. Can you see them "dancing" and singing away? Ridiculous, but it totally cracks me up. Love it!

Top Gun

I pretty much watched  Top Gun on repeat for a few months in school. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell was the coolest ever as he sang that Righteous Brothers song to Charlie. I was swooning back then.

Masters of the Universe

My brother was into  He Man in a really big way. I remember trips to the shops where he would get another He Man character to add to the popcorn tin he kept in his room full of action figures. And this is the part where I admit I kind of liked watching the show with him.

Ghostbusters

Raise your hand if you saw  Ghostbusters in the cinema! I loved that movie so much. I remember thinking that the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man was just about the weirdest yet coolest "bad guy" ever. And Slimer! Loved him in the cartoon too. I can't wait until I can show my daughter this movie.

Space Invaders

Space Invaders was my favourite Atari game. Remember when you would take the cartridge out of the console and blow in it when it wouldn't work? And just like that it would. If you can say "yes," then you've made my day.

Caboodle

I loved my  Caboodle! And of course it went with me to theatre camp. (Of. Course.) I kept my jewelry and scrunchies and make-up inside it. And now I kind of want one again.

Back to the Future

My husband loves the  Back to the Future movies. And I think anyone would have to admit they are true classics. I remember when I realized Deloreans were real cars. Awesome.

Snoopy Snow Cone Machine

Remember that advert? "And it's name is the  Snoopy Snow Cone Machine. You put the ice cubes in and get a snow cone out." I totally wanted one, but had to live vicariously through the commercials.

Alf

I think you probably had to be about 10 to love  Alf. He was the oddest looking creature but somehow so endearing.

Duran Duran

Who was your favourite member of  Duran Duran? Mine was hands down the drummer, Roger Taylor.  It's possible that I might have gotten a sticker with a photo of him on it in one of those gum ball machines in the grocery store. (For real.)

California Raisin

Remember these guys? My Grandma might have taken one for the team and bought a few kids meals so that my brother and I could each have one of these  California Raisins.

Plastic Charm Necklace

These  charm necklaces were one of my favourite things (just after my sticker book). I kind of wish they'd come back in style. Is that crazy? And I really wish I'd kept mine. Along with my  jelly bracelets.

Gremlins

Did you see Gremlins in the cinema? This is the part where I admit that I was way too afraid of it and didn't watch it until the 90s. But now I pretty much want this  lunch box. Gizmo sure was adorable. And he's made a comeback; you can get a new stuffy of him right  here

Muppets Glasses

These  Muppets glasses from McDonald's might be in my cabinet right now because I loved them so much as a kid. I found them in an antique store and now they bring a smile to my face every day. I also love these  Peanuts glasses!

Karate Kid

I had a huge crush on Daniel from  Karate Kid  and I even named my cat after him. Yes, that's right, I named my cat Daniel. Big love for this movie! You could learn a lot from Mr. Miyagi still today.

Doctor Doogie Howser

Can you believe Neil Patrick Harris was this young when he played  Doogie? He's such a baby here. What a cutie. Loved this show. And there are some awesome Doogie t-shirts available.

How I adored my  Swatch watches and totally wish I still had them. They were so much fun! Love that there are still some out there that work.

Ms. Pac-Man

I remember when our local pizzeria, Noble Romans, got a  Ms. Pac-Man machine. It was already my favourite pizza place because you could stand at a window into the kitchen and watch them spin and toss the pizza. And then they got a tabletop Ms. Pac-Man. She wears a bow! Seriously fantastic.

Ewoks

So, did you love or hate the  Ewoks? I didn't even know anyone hated the Ewoks until my husband, who graduated from school in the late 80s (I graduated in the early 90s), explained that the Ewoks were like Jar Jar Binks to the true fans. What? I'm always going to love them. And kind of want one. (And if you're a Star Wars fan, check out my  May the Force Be with You collection.)

Strawberry Shortcake

A handful of the cartoons and characters I adored during the 80s are making a comeback and my daughter loves them too. Makes this mama's heart happy. She's just starting to get into  Strawberry Shortcake. I had a lunchbox that I might have bought again here on eBay because I missed it so much (it houses my sewing supplies), and I loved combing my Strawberry Shortcake's red hair while sitting on the front step of my house on Garland Circle so many years ago.

Thanks for joining me for this trip down memory lane. What are your favourite 80s memories that you'd add to this list? I'd love if you'd share in the comments below.

And while I was looking up good things for this guide, I came across a lot of t-shirts so I created the   "If you miss the 80s, I've got a t-shirt for that" collection
