Instant offers on cars for sale

I just thought I' share my experience as it only very recently occured (yesteray in fact) and it has all been a bit bizarre...

I placed a Nissan vehicle for sale on ebay last night at 2030... approximate value £1k. At 2035 I had recieved 6 bids taking the vehicle to £7,770 and had recieved 3 phone calls from different males on my mobile.

All the males had stated that they wanted to buy the car NOW and would send a paypal deposit instantly and the rest of the cash would be paid on collection if they could collect it tomorrow...

It all seemed a bit to good to be true and hasty... we told the callers that we wanted to contact eBay as something did not seem right and instantly removed the vehicle from ebay to stop the contact.

Needless to say I did not even read the multiple emails in my inbox, just deleted them. A few moments later we recieved a call from the first male who become shockingly aggresive he began arguing that we had agreed a price with him and that the vehicle was his and he would attend the address tomorrow to collect it. We advised the male not to attend as the vehicle was no longer for sale at which point he became more aggresive and we termintaed the call only to recieve a text meesage from the same number stating that he knew our ADDRESS and would see us tomorrow!

Since then no further contact has been made I have told eBay who were disinterested to say the least and informed me that anyone who bids on any item I am selling has the right to request my personal information to make contact with me.

I was then told by eBay that I could not remove my phone number  and would have to cancel my account if that was what I wanted... after some arguing they guided me to the 'site map' link at the very bottom of the home page and then under the MY EBAY header is 'registration details' here you will find all the details that any potential buyer can access when they place a bid on your item

After reading another review from a male selling a jeep I would image that the instant to good to be true buyer was going to pay a deposit on paypal and then prior to collecting feed me some sorry line about insufficient funds but that he would be able to pay the rest by paypal in the next few days using the same genuine account he paid the deposit with by which point they are already at your address collecting your car no doubt...

The moral to this review is IF THEY WANT IT INSTANTLY AND OFFER YOU MORE THAN YOUR EXPECTING then be very careful... from now on I won't be putting "sensible offers welcome" in the text on my selling items I will make it very clear the auction is going to be run to the end.

Hope this helps as I know that I could have done with reading something like this yesterday when I was pancking.
