Kenner Super Powers 1985

Like if this guide is helpful

Intro

In 1985 11 new figures were introduced to the line, this made these cards produced in 1985 23 backs. The 11 new characters were released on Fan club offer, Superman cape offer and free Clark Kent mail away cards. ( I may do another guide going into what the fan club offer was and also the other offers like free poster, mail aways etc. Plus not all the cards were the same as Canada only did Superman offer cards on the 2nd series.)

Action Figures

  • Darkseid
  • Desaad
  • Dr Fate
  • Firestorm
  • Green Arrow
  • Kalibak
  • Mantis
  • Steppenwolf (was originally a mail away, but was then released on 23 back card)
  • Red Tornado
  • Martian manhunter
  • Parademon
  • Clark Kent (Mail Away)
To recognise a 23 back on the back of the card it should have 23 figures. 4 yellow boxes with the Darkseid destroyer, Batmobile, Delta Probe one and Supermobile although some may show a life size Batman cape. All the figures included the mini comic book just like the 1st wave. (Steppenwolf was released without a comic, but there are also ones with comics).

Small Cards

In 1985 Canadian shell gas stations released a promotional offer in which consumers were offered a free 1 of 8 Super Powers figures if they purchased 25 litres or more. These were on smaller cards, thinner. These 8 include:
  • Superman
  • Batman
  • Robin
  • Wonderwoman
  • Green Lantern
  • Red tornado
  • Martian manhunter
  • Firestorm

Re-releases

The 1st wave was released on the 23 back fan club offer, Superman cape offer and Free Clark Kent mail away cards. This included all 12 original figures. This is why you may see some say 23 back 1985 and not 12 back 1984.

Vehicles

  • Kalibak boulder bomber- Produced in 1985 acting as Kalibak's vehicle.
  • Darkseid Destroyer- Produced in 1985, This was a big vehicle set and had three seats, I believe for Darkseid, Desaad and Kalibak.
  • Delta Probe one- Produced in 1985, Robin's good old Probe one came with a bomb and the cockpit rotated.
This was just a quick look into the 1985 super Powers line and what there is to collect. I hope this gave some help to someone who needed some information about the 2nd wave of Super powers.
