The LDV Convoy V8 is fitted with a Land Rover V8 Engine as a 'Special Vehicle Order' (SVO) and is supplied in ambulance trim or any other specially built LDV vehicle such as the 300 or 400 Series van and minibus (1986 on) as supplied to the Police Forces and Armed Forces and also in the facelifted Convoy 300 & 400 models from 1996 on.
The V8 Convoy uses the same engine as fitted to the Land Rover and Early Range Rover and comes with manual or automatic gearbox.
The Convoy V8 engines with identity number 25G and a manual gearbox are fitted with twin Solex 175 CDSE carbs, the Convoy V8 engine with identity number 26G and an automatic gearbox are also fitted with twin Solex 175 CDSE carbs.
The Convoy V8 engines with identity number 25G suffix letter B and a manual gearbox are fitted with twin SU HIF44 carbs, the Convoy V8 engine with identity number 26G suffix letter B and an automatic gearbox are also fitted with twin SU HIF44 carbs.
The special adjustment tools for the above carburettors are available from various specialist 'mechanics tools' sellers on eBay.

The Convoy V8 engine is actually quite easy to work on and easy to service, with all serviceable items available no problem on eBay via the Land Rover people.
You can change the standard V8 Rover engine ignition system from mechanical points with condensor and rotor arm to the contactless digital setup, they are usually sold by the Land Rover chaps here on eBay.
It is often said that the Convoy V8 engine is a nightmare to set up the ignition and carburation properly, It may be if you don't have the LDV Convoy V8 engine factory manual. Get one here from my eBay shop and this V8 is simple to get running spot on.
The LDV Convoy V8 factory workshop manual has a very comprehensive fault diagnosis section and it points out many items that are related to an engine fault which makes fault finding and rectification so much easier with nothing left to 'possible cause' or 'maybe it's this or that'.
This Convoy V8 Engine Workshop Manual is also suitable for the V8 Land Rover Forward Control 101 and umpteen standard Land Rovers and special builds.
