I have found over the last 18 months, that it is not always the seller/ buyer who should be punished for a late or poorly organized sale or purchase. In fact, do we actually need "negative feedback"?
I think we do BUT, we should be very cautious how we use it. Personally I am reluctant to threaten Negative responses to indiscretions, as I once received a negative feedback when I was totally unable to respond to my ebay listings, due to family tragedy. The buyer did not know this and issued a deadly rebuke to my worthiness and knocked my self commitment to ebay for some weeks. This ultra-prompt act by this ebayer made me realize that ebaying is a two way street, an understanding of difficulties that others may find themselves in.
It could be Hospital, families, holiday, a death in the family, divorce, etc etc. I think you get the point. We all live these lives and at some point will all suffer as a result of one thing or another. Do we, primarily, think about ebay and our listings, I think not. I have a firm belief that if we follow the ethos of ebay and are truely a "family" of sorts, we should allow a little grace from time to time, before we emblazed some unfortunate ebayer with negative feedback. After all, this is the curse for all of us, to spoil that wondrous 100%.
Those of us who try so hard to provide a service to others that we would wish for ourselves, can only hope we are given the same understanding at the times we are less than efficient.
Some ebayers will always deserve that most negative of reactions but generally ebay fosters some wonderous folk who serve a network of like minded people. Give time for responses that seem delayed. By all means email the buyer/ seller for advice but be relatively patient to their needs, usually it will come with an abundance of gratitude.
REMEMBER: Negativety breeds negativety. Misunderstanding abounds when we communicate electronically, so take a deep breath and let things ride for a few more days and watch the gathering of positive vibes that serge through the Message box. We will all benefit from the closer understanding of our own failings and disruptions.
BE POSITIVE, CRITICISE POSITIVLY AND PROVIDE FOR "THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT".
HAPPY EBAYING TO YOU ALL FOR 2007.
