Considering to buy Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 Music Software? Here are some facts you should know...This information was not easy to find on the M-Audio site and some customers have been asking questions about compatability with their systems. Hope this is some help!

To run the software effectively on a PC or MAC here are the following minimum system requirments

PC

Windows XP Professional or Home Edition

Pro Tools M-Powered 7 is qualified with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP1 not tested)

Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software can't be installed or used on systems running Windows 98, Me, 2000, NT, 95, or 3.1

Not Supported:
- Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
- Windows XP Media Center Edition

Total System RAM

512MB minimum required for Pro Tools M-Powered 7, more recommended
More RAM increases overall system and Pro Tools performance
More RAM suggested for sessions with high edit density, extensive use of plug-ins, or simultaneous use with MIDI sequencers
1GB total system RAM or more required with Music Production Toolkit option in order to reliably achieve maximum track count
Refer to motherboard manufacturer for supported RAM version
Additional Requirements

Monitor

Minimum resolution of 1024 x 768
17" or larger recommended if using external monitor
Performance Guidelines

Recording to the system startup drive is not recommended or supported
Although limited recording and playback of audio tracks may be possible using the startup drive, one or more separate dedicated 7200 rpm audio hard drive(s) is required for maximum performance and track count
Dual processor machines may need to have network cards disabled for best performance
Known Issues

Pro Tools does not support RAID technology. Please do not activate this feature on any Pro Tools recording drives.
Computers with motherboards containing SiS (Silicon Integrated Systems) chipsets
Intel Celeron, Pentium III and older processor based computers are not supported
AMD K6, K6-2 or K6-III, K7 processor based computers are not supported (newer AMD Athlon XP, Athlon 64, and Athlon 64 FX processors are supported)
Before purchasing these or any computer, please carefully go over these documents and the exact specifications of the computer to make certain that all of the compatibility guidelines have been met.

MAC

Pro Tools M-Powered 7.0/7.1/7.1.1 Compatibility

Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.1 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) for Intel-based Macs only.
Pro Tools M-Powered 7.0 and 7.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) for PPC-based Macs only.
Music Production Toolkit requires Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1 or higher
Supported CPU Models & Requirements

System Software
Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.1 is officially supported on Mac OS X 10.4.6 (Tiger) for Intel-based Macs
- Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.1 will not install or run on PPC-based Macs, and Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1 and earlier will not run on Intel-based Macs
Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1 is officially supported on Mac OS X 10.4.4, 10.4.5, and 10.4.6 (Tiger) for PPC-based Macs
Pro Tools M-Powered 7.0 is officially supported on Mac OS X 10.4.2, 10.4.3, 10.4.4, 10.4.5, and 10.4.6 for PPC-based Macs
Pro Tools M-Powered 7 will not run on Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) and earlier
Notes:

Testing is currently in progress with Mac OS X 10.4.7 for PPC-based and Intel-based Macs.
- Although there are currently no known issues with Pro Tools and Mac OS X 10.4.7, it has not been officially qualified by Digidesign.
After updating either Pro Tools or your Mac OS, always run Disk Utility and "Repair Permissions" on the startup drive.
Total System RAM

Music Production Toolkit Option — Maximum Track Count Information

The purchase of this option expands a Pro Tools M-Powered system from 32 total voiceable tracks to up to 48 mono or 48 stereo tracks at up to 96 kHz (interface permitting). In order to reliably achieve maximum track count, Digidesign recommends the following on Mac OS X:

Digidesign-Qualified Power Mac G5 Dual Processor 2GHz or higher, including Power Mac G5 Quad
- Power Mac G5 Dual 2GHz (first generation model M9032) may not achieve maximum track count
Digidesign-Qualified Dual Processor Intel-based Mac
1.5 GB total system RAM or more
2 or more hard drives dedicated for audio record and playback:
- 2 internal SATA drives
- 2 external SCSI drives & qualified SCSI HBA
- 2 or more external FireWire drives
Additional Requirements - All Pro Tools M-Powered Systems
Monitor

Minimum resolution of 1024 x 768
14" minimum, 17" or larger recommended if using external monitor
Laptop models with 12" and larger LCD screens supported
Dual monitors with standard dual monitor cards as shipped by Apple supported
Pro Tools Does Not Support Sleep Mode

In the Macintosh System Preferences, launch Energy Saver, click the Sleep tab, and disable all Sleep features. Set "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive" to Never.
Do not manually put your computer to sleep when running Pro Tools.
