BUY NOW OR BEST OFFER
MAKE YOUR OFFER COUNT
SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER
1) IS THE ITEM SOMETHING YOU NEED OR JUST SIMPLY WOULD LIKE
if its something you need dont waste your offer. you only get one chance to place a best offer so dont waste it. if the item is something you need and is it always available in this condition, or if its new and always on ebay ie the seller has several seperate auctions for the same item try a cheeky offer on one first. then slowly try increasing the offer.check their feedback see what they have accepted before and go just under it. if the auction is for something you dont need but just want try again a low offer. you are in no rush so why not take your time.
If the seller has a shop and is asking for offers on lower priced items, remember they will not be able to drop too much on the asking price. they have their overheads too remember. you will normally find a asking price of £4.99 will allow room for offers in the region over £4.00. if the item is made by them then maybe lower. if they have had to buy the stock then they wont drop much.
2) LARGER "ONE OFF" ITEMS
if a seller is inviting offers for items that they only have one of then be careful with your choosen offer. most buy now auctions are listed because the seller does not want to wait for the rising auction to get going as they only ever get going in the last day or so, some sellers will put a price over and above what they want meaning they have room to move. some will just set it to what they want and wont drop despite having the best offer service. why not contact the seller and put to them your offer see what they say first. you can then get an idea of if it will be suitable to place it live or not.
3) MUST HAVE ITEMS
if you have decided that you need the item at all cost then you can try an offer but you may miss out to someone else whilst the seller considers your offer so be bold and grab it while you can. if you have found something that is not available all the time, and it has been proved to be as described and you trust the seller then whats the point in missing out for a few quid. dont take that risk.
4) HIGHER PRICED AUCTIONS
buy now / best offer auctions invloving high sums need you to consider it carefully. dont waste your one offer. get in contact with the seller. if the item is what you want then buy it. some sellers will again put a higher price on allowing room for offers but if you dont know how much you will have to take a punt and make a sensible offer. i would say on an buy now price of say £500 even if you save £25 its a saving. dont try to save too much and then be forced to buy now saving nothing.
with regards to my own personal auctions when i use buy now i do leave small room for movement on some items. in most cases i expect the buy now price or at the very least offers to be in the same bracket ie buy now £450 i would expect £4?? meaning £422 or £435 for example. i would never entertain any silly offers and often block buyers from future auctions to save time obn timewasters. this may seem harsh but when you have something worth £500 listed and get offers of £150 you can see why i do this. in most auctions i list i expect the buy now price to be met but if you dont ask you dont get so thanks for reading this and good luck with your BEST OFFERS.
