THIS IS MY GUIDE TO GRADING ZIPPOS.

IF ANYONE WHO'S SELLING ZIPPO'S ON EBAY WISHES TO USE THIS AS A LINK

OR USE IT IN GRADING THEIR ZIPPO ON A LISTING YOU MAY DO SO.

MINT/STILL SEALED: The Zippo itself is in brand new condition with no surface

marks and still has its orange safety seal attached.

Any extra items,such as COA,

Flint holder,Flints,Trading Card,Gift Box,Tin,Wooden Box,Carded Sleeve,etc

Should also be MINT and with no surface marks or deterioration.

MINT:  As above, but the Zippo is without a orange safety seal. (this is common with zippos from europe and japan) The wicks still pure white,it opens and shuts nice and tight, with no faults on the finish or artwork. All in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT: The Zippo shows signs of being handled, and may have been filled and used. The wick is just off white. The case may have small fine scratches but no more than 3 or 5. The hinge is good and tight and it opens and shuts as it should. The designed artwork,is complete with no loss of paint. The packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The Zippo as obviously been used many times, but displays no major deterioration, despite noticeable surface marks and light scratches. The hinge maybe a little loose. Their maybe some loss of paint (10-15%) to the Zippo's finished artwork. With normal wear and tear on the packaging, without any major defects its acceptable.

GOOD: The Zippo has been used alot, with some real noticeable surface marks and scratches. The hinge will be loose. But it still shuts ok. Also with up to or over 30% loss of paint on the finished artwork. It may have some parts which need replacing such as a wick,or spring. The packaging will have major scuffing,parts/paperwork missing. With alot of wear.

FAIR: The Zippo has considerable markings, and major surface marks and scratches. The hinge will be very loose, and the opening and closing action is poor. Also with up to or over 60% loss of paint on the finished artwork. Parts will be missing,or non-working. The packaging and contents will be missing or badly damaged.

POOR: The Zippo is in a very bad state, broken with major parts missing, bad damage to the hinge, and not working, the flint wheel maybe stuck, cam missing, etc Also with 90-100% loss on the artworks finish. Its only of use is as a collection-filler till a better one comes along,or as spare parts.
