MGO® Manuka Honey from Family Foods

The Detail

It is clear that the European Manuka market needs to catch up with  New Zealand's lead.

With the NZ Government banning the packing of Active and Total Active Manuka honey in New Zealand, these brands have now taken to packing their honey in Europe, thus navigating around the NZ Ministry for Primary Industries tight controls.

Some people argue the NZ guidelines don't apply to the UK and Europe. This might be correct, however we have our own set of rules, which mirror the guidelines.

It is time that the FSA, DEFRA and Trading Standards enforce EU labelling law and EU Nutrition and Health claims regulations and take the lead in Europe.

At Family Foods Ltd we take a transparent approach to quality. All our Manuka honey is marketed on the minimum Methylglyoxal content. We test our honey in a leading independent lab to ensure it meets the strict guidelines established in both New Zealand and Europe.

We now challenge all "active" and "total active" Manuka brands to publish the unique Methylglyoxal content on their packaging. This is what EU labelling law demands.

Family Foods Ltd will be working closely with the FSA, DEFRA and Trading Standards, to support their individual efforts in cleaning up the industry.

If you require any further information on our brands, honey testing or honey labelling, please send us your question through eBay.

Thank you for your interest in Manuka.
