1. Something Personalised

Personalised presents took the gifting world by storm last year, so if you're looking for a gift that has been put together just for your Mum, then there are plenty of places online that can accommodate your needs. eBay, Not On the High Street and Etsy are the best sites to find something really special.

From mugs and wine glasses to aprons, jewellery and art prints you can find something that matches your Mum's personality and put a smile on her face once the wrapping paper comes off.

Engraved wine glasses are a popular choice for the busy mum who enjoys nothing more than coming home at the end of a long day and sipping a glass (or two) of vino, or you could opt for a big mug for those Mum's who always seem to be boiling the kettle for a cuppa.

2. Dear Mum Journal

Have you ever wondered what your Mum wanted to be when she was small, how old she was when she first got a job or what you were really like as a child? Well now you can gift your Mum something to find out all the answers.

The Dear Mum journal, created by From You to Me, encourages your Mum to fill in the journal with details about her life as she is prompted by a question on each page. It's a fun gift that will keep her entertained for hours and you will also benefit from the end result - and possibly cringe at her answers!

3. One-off Subscription Box

Does your Mum love her beauty? Enjoy trying out new lifestyle products? Or is she really into everything Sci-Fi and geeky? Then why not order a one off subscription box for her to enjoy?

There are hundreds of options out there now, including the Birchbox which features skincare products, food samples and lifestyle products or the Glossybox that comes filled with high-end make-up to try at home.

If she knows her Edam from her Bocconcini then you could have Pong Cheese send her a box full of, you've guessed it, cheese. You can even sign up to boxes, such as Nandemobox and Chimasu, which send Japanese food and products to sample - and usually puzzle over!

However we're not ruling anything out here, so if she's more of a geek then try MyGeekBox or Lootcrate for a selection of awesome geeky products such as Funko Pops and comics delivered straight to her door. MyGeekBox is the more affordable alternative and is based in the UK, whereas American based Lootcrate charges from $39 for a box.

4. Day Trip

Treat your Mum to an experience instead of something you can wrap up, with a trip out for afternoon tea, an indulgent chocolate-making course or even gift her with a day pass for a the nearest spa, so she can enjoy a luxurious massage and dip in the pool.

We suggest searching sites such as eBay, Red Letter Days and Secret Escapes  for the best deals. Why not take her on a trip to London and arrange for a seat on an afternoon tea bus tour, where you can enjoy mini quiches, mini sandwiches and lots of tea whilst being driven around London on a  refurbished Routemaster bus to see the sights?

5. Cleaning Service

Let your Mum put her feet up for the day and hire a temporary maid service to do those chores she really doesn't want to do (giving her more time to spend with you!)

Alternatively, if you can't afford to hire a cleaning service pick up some cleaning products and offer to clean the house for her yourself or do the ironing, while she lounges on the sofa with a box of chocolates and a glass of wine.

6. For the Mum Who Has Everything

If you struggle to buy for your Mum but know that she enjoys a nice glass (or bottle) of Chardonnay on a Friday evening, then give her the gift of crisp cool wine all the time with a Corkcicle.

This ingenious device looks like an icicle and works as both a drinks' cooler without any watering down and a cork for open bottles of wine. Simply freeze the Corkcicle, pour a glass of wine and then pop it in the top to keep it cool for up to an hour. You can even chill really warm reds to room temperature in just 15 minutes. Then just wash and re use afterwards.

7. Chocolatey Treats

There's no better present than your favourite chocolates, lovingly wrapped in tissue paper and cellophane to look like a giant, edible bouquet of deliciousness.

Chocolate bouquets are better than flowers and definitely outdo a simple box of the sugary treat, here on eBay we have sellers specialising in putting together these stunning, yummy displays that your Mum will instantly love - and devour.

Alternatively, why not pick up a chocolate pizza? Yes, you read that right, a pizza made entirely from chocolate is  out there and ready for you to buy. Genius, right?

8. DIY

Fancy getting creative and making something from scratch for your Mum to enjoy? Then why not try creating some body scrubs, candles and even jams using every day items and a little creativity? There are plenty of online tutorials out there to guide you.

With just oil, beeswax and water you can create a delicious smelling, completely organic moisturiser that works great to soften skin. Here's an easy tutorial to try, when you're done package the finished product up in a clean jam jar and wrap it to give to your Mum on Mother's Day.

Foot soaks are another easy beauty product to make at home and are great for Mum's who are on their feet all day long or spend a lot of time out gardening. This tutorial shows you how to create a lotion to combat achey feet, using epsom salts, natural herbs and oils

9. A Night In Hamper

Put together a hamper filled with your Mum's favourite things for a night in. A bubble bath, a DVD, bottle of wine, a takeaway voucher, popcorn  and a cosy blanket to wrap up in on the sofa, should be well received. Offer to keep her company or give the gift of some 'me time' - she deserves it.

10. Flowers

Finally, this may be not the most unique of gifts but it is simple, easy and guaranteed a good response - because you know that no matter what, your Mum will love a big bunch of flowers she can pop into a vase and admire for a while.

Do try to go to a florist though (and be sure to order early) to ensure they are extra special with cellophane, ribbons and all the trimmings. The simplest of gifts are sometimes the best, just be sure to put a special message on the card!
