NEW TO SELLING AND THE PITFALLS OF FEEDBACK

HAVING BOUGHT A FEW THINGS FROM EBAY ,I THOUGHT I GIVE IT A GO AND TRY TO DO A BIT OF SELLING.
IHAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FIRST CUSTOMER
HE PAID BY CHEQUE I PUT THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK IN IMMEDIATELY.
.THE ITEM WAS A SECOND HAND STAINLESS STEEL SINK DOUBLE BOWL, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE QUITE BULKY AND AWKWARD.WELL I WRAPPED IT IN SOME CARDBOARD,PUT LOADS OF BROWN TAPE AROUND IT TOOK IT TO TO POST OFFICE AND SENT IT  TO THE CUSTOMER.
ABOUT  A WEEK LATER I GOT  COMPLAINT E MAIL .THE SINK WAS NO GOOD IT ARRIVED BADLY PACKED ETC.
WELL I COULDNT UNDERSTAND HOW THE SINK COULD BE U/S.I HAVE WORKED AS A PLUMBER FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A S/S  SINK BREAK. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I ASKED FOR PHOTOS OF THE OFFENDING ARTICLE. ALL THE PHOTOS WERE BLURRED. SO I ASKED FOR MORE. THIS WENT ON FOR A NUMBER OF WEEKS, WITH THE CUSTOMER SENDING A VERY ABUSIVE E MAIL.IN THE END I GAVE HIM A COMPLETE REFUND.HE GAVE ME NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.

 THE POINT OF ALL THIS IS WHEN YOU ARE NEW TO SOMETHING YOU CAN BE A BIT NAIVE,
YOU NEED TO BE ON THE BALL ALL THE TIME.
WHEN YOU SELL AN ITEM ITS EASY TO TAKE SOME DETAILED PHOTOS OF IT AND KEEP JUST IN CASE.
MAKE SURE THAT THE PACKAGING IS 100% PERFECT BECAUSE THE POST BOYS THROW THEM ABOUT LIKE RUGBY BALLS.
REMEMBER FEEDBACK CANT BE RETRACTED ITS THERE FOREVER,SO  COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE.
REMEMBER EVEN IF YOU SELL AN ITEM FOR A FEW POUNDS,THE CUSTOMER WILL
WANT IT TO BE PERFECT AND RIGHTLY SO
IT TAKES A BIT OF EFFORT TO BE A SUCCESS
