WE WOULD LIKE TO SHARE SOME OF OUR KNOWLEDGE WITH YOU THAT MAY SAVE YOU TIME AND MONEY,IF WEEKLY CHECKS ARE CARRIED OUT.WE CAN ALSO GIVE ADVICE ON ANY OTHER FORD PARTS THAT YOU REQUIRE ASSISTANCE WITH.

POWER STEERING LEVELS(ford focus 2001 - 2005)

BEFORE YOU START THERE ARE SOME BASIC CHECKS THAT YOU NEED TO DO.

1) ENSURE THAT YOUR CAR IS ON LEVEL GROUND

2)THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE COLD AND TURNED OFF(this is really important to ensure no burning or scoulding happens).

3)THE STEERING WHEEL NEEDS TO BE STRAIGHT AHEAD.

Ford Centre Tip --  to ensure that the check is correct as possible, ensure that you straighten the wheel up when parking your car and ensure that the steering wheel is straight before turning the engine off.The steering wheel must not be turned once the engine has stopped.

SAFETY !!!    If you are constantly topping up this indicates a leak this needs to be investigated immediatley.

YOU NEED TO LOCATE THE RESEVOIR,THIS IS LOCATED AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT,NEXT TO THE COOLANT EXPANSION TANK.

YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE THE FLUID LEVEL THROUGH THE RESEVOIR TANK,(you will see the markings between the min and max marks).THE FLUID NEEDS TO BE BETWEEN THE MIN AND MAX MARKINGS WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD.IF THE LEVEL IS CHECKED WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING OR HOT,THEN THE LEVEL MAY RISE ABOVE THE MAX MARKINGS.

IF TOPPING UP IS REQUIRED(use the specified type of fluid-do not overfill the resevoir).TAKE CARE NOT TO INTRODUCE DIRT INTO THE SYSTEM WHEN TOPPING UP.

WHEN THE LEVEL IS CORRECT(remember between the max & min marks), SECURELY REFIT THE CAP.

Congratulations on behalf of The Ford Centre you have successfully checked the Power Steering Fluid Levels on your car.
