Packing your parcels

Packing your ebay sales well is a must. While postage and packing costs are built into the selling fees you charge your buyer, you can make the process cheaper for both of you (and help reduce landfill waste!) by re-using some packaging materials. Below are some ideas:
  • Save boxes from washing tablets, dish washer tablet boxes etc. The boxes are robust and ideal for helping protect delicate items.
  • Bubble wrap can be readily obtained free of charge from supermarkets and other stores (just ask!), as it is used to pack fruit and other delicate items. Shops usually just throw it away and in my experience are only too happy to give pass it on.
  • Sending a larger parcel? Ask shoe shops for unwanted shoe and boot boxes.
I have frequently reused items in this manner, therefore avoiding buying new boxes and bubble wrap, and therefore avoiding having to increase my postage costs to my buyers. No-one has ever complained at a carefully packed parcel in recycled materials of this type - surely it is better to pack well in recycled materials than to send an inadequately wrapped item and risk the problems of damage and non-receipt?
