Although most known as horror writer, Stephen Edwin King has also written suspense and science fiction. He has also written under the nom de plumes Richard Bachman and John Swithen. He was awarded in 2003 the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. He was University trained, but seems to have gone 'straight to writing' as opposed to taking another profession.
He is probably the best selling writer of horror fiction. He is of course known for the film adaptions Misery, IT and so on, but they don't seem to be in the list below...
He are his ten bestsellers, according to Amazon.co.uk (I've abandoned the number of reviews as it seems that despite being reviewed means books are being read, it seems that reviewers have not read all the books of an author and are chosing the best one, maybe they are a group of friends sharing the book and writing their own reviews in a book club way?) This is correct as March 2010.
1. On Writing: A Master of the Craft (Non Fiction)
2. Under the Dome
3. Just Under Sunset
4. The Stand
5. The Dark Tower. Gunslinger Book 1
6. The Shining
7. The Dark Tower. Song of Susannah Book 6
8. The Dark Tower. Wizard and Glass Book 4
(I can't see an English book having this title. Sounds like rhyming slang...)
9. The Dark Tower. Waste Lands Book 3
10. The Dark Tower. Wolves of the Calla. Book 5
