Post office attitude to coin trading

Recently - November20th - I suffered the loss of Four separate recorded post items. I completed  a claim form for each item stating  the consequential  loss, all the items were below the Post Office compensation limit of £32, on my forms I stated that the contents of the packages were Pre - Decimal coins which were no longer legal tender and had no monetary value. The Post Office dismissed my claim stating that coins are considered valuables and should have been sent by special delivery, a system which would have cost four times the value of some of the packages. I have since complained to Postwatch but in spite of their best efforts, the Post Office has remained adamant that they will not meet my claim. It seems to me that the odd bit of pilfering is OK as long as the item is not approved for compensation.  LET OTHER SELLERS BEWARE.
