One simple rule always to follow.

YOU SHOULD NEVER SEND ANYTHING THAT IS NOT RECORDED AND SIGNED FOR ON DELIVERY.

In the event a non recorded item goes missing or is lost...

Ebay and paypal will freeze the funds paid for the sold item, whilist you dispute it with the buyer, through the "resolution centre".

If you can not provide proof of delivery (proof of sending is not sufficient); then ebay and paypal will always side in the buyers favour, which will result in the transaction being cancelled and all payments made to the seller are refunded to the buyer

As the seller you lose the item and the monies.
As the buyer all monies are returned and you have no obligation to purchase from the seller.

It's a tough lesson to learn, especially if the item is worth a few bob.
