I notice that a number of (usually recent) eBayers state in the description they have a reserve, and sometimes what that reserve is.

They do not use ( and pay for) the official eBay reserve auction format.

If you are one of theswe sellers, please understand that according to eBay rules, UNLESS you use the proper reserve format in your listing any reserve you may state in your description has no real binding. If you do not use the reserve format, and the bid does not reach the price you want, you cannot really refuse to sell at the lower price.

If you refuse to sell you get disstisfied buyers who will be in the legal rights to give negative feedback.

Its not worth the hassle.

Just use and pay for the Reserve Format. After all, you get it refunded if the item sells!
