VISIT RHOS - ON - SEA.

      COLWYN BAY, NORTH WALES.

I instantly fell in love with this picturesque village, it felt like we had stepped into a postcard which took us back to a time when the pace of life was much slower, peaceful and tranquil.

We had the foresight to book accomadation a few weeks before travelling from our home in Wallasey on the Wirral, The Whitehall Hotel is situated on Cayley promonade overlooking the waterfront, we had booked a short break of three days bed and breakfast...later we wished that we had booked for longer! the management were husband and wife team Tony & Maria, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome,  we were shown to front facing rooms, a double for my wife Karen and i, and a single room next door for our daughter Laura, the rooms were bright and modern and very clean, Breakfast at the Whitehall was a real event where you could eat as much...or as little as you like, i found that the full breakfast was something to be experienced and savoured!

Once we were settled the three of us took a refreshing walk along the prom into Rhos-on-sea itself, the first thing i noticed was the harbour, small brightly coloured fishing boats bobbed up and down in the water looking more like toy's! we found an empty bench and sat and just took in the view.

Rhos-on-sea has several nice cafe's and restaurants, gift shops, small supermarkets selling the essentials for self catering holiday makers, and a great "Chippy" where you could sit in to eat or take your food away...we did both!  The "Cayley Arms" was a nice family pub who also offered great meals, we eat there several times and are happy to recommend it.

The Bus service is second to none with buses along every ten to fifteen minutes, my wife and i being disabled had our car, Rhyl was only 20 - 30 minutes drive away and offered ample parking, you certainly wouldn't be bored here, Rhyl has a funfair, plenty of amusement arcades, boat rides, fishing trips, and an abundance of restaurants and gift shops!

Rhos-on-sea has remained one of our favourite "haunts" and we have returned to the Whitehall hotel every year for "more of the same!"

We would urge anyone in the North west and beyond to pay Rhos-on-sea a visit, its ideal for a family short break or longer, all the best !!
