Red wine stain on white shirt

I was guing to a dress dance years ago, and spilt red wine on the front of a white shirt. I decided to try some chemistry. I applied clear vinegar to the stain while still on, took a cotton bud used for cleaning babies' ears, and applied a miniscule amount of NEAT bleach on the cotton bud, stain disappeared instantly, and my body heat dried it out in no time, I figured that the release of chlorine gas in close proximity to the stain would have the desired effect : which it did. Shirt went into the wash in the normal way and did'nt suffer from the "treatment"
