Investing in furniture!

Buy, not buy,what to do?
The appeal of mid-century furniture has grown rapidly over the past few years, making it a good area for investment retaining or increasing the value and also kinder to the environment but be aware! for a good investment the furniture need to be in great condition with very minor age related or properly restored otherwise you may have a bad surprise when you decide to sell the beloved item you bought .
Don’t buy just because it say’s is fashionable, aways look for pieces in great condition, clean, tide, smell free or refinished from peoples who know what they doing, the best place for a quick reference is the eBay feedbacks, good sellers will have a happy feedback and not just (good as described). Doing right you will have a stunning piece decorating you home for many years and a really good £ surprise when you decide to upgrade the look on your house.

Some pieces  like G Plan, Ercol, McIntosh and Beithcrafth are getting very scarce and rare to come across, few years ago when the retro style start to be fashionable again you could buy stunning sideboards for as low as £100 but now some of them are over £1000 because there is no many around , that’s why you need to be aware and shop around very carefully, don’t buy the first one you see and take your time because will be  aways something better, aways look well on the description and pictures ! if there is no much on the advert you should ask the seller for more details and pictures, don’t be afraid because you is the one with the cash to buy so if the seller is evasive or with excuses juts jump off and look for something else.

Another really big misunderstanding is the return police for used furniture,  as buyer of antique/vintage furniture should assume some signs of mild wear which  are part of the item' s history and make it unique, returning there just because you changed your mind or clashes with other furniture style isn’t a really good reason and the seller are not obligated to accept so the best thing is to look the items and ask as many questions you need to make your mind and avoid disappointment.

Fashion:
Don’t fill up your place with hundreds of vintage pieces, choose few items that seats well on the spaces you have so you will have a smooth good looking place and the vintage pieces will be aways the focal point and will be the first thing to be notices when someone new come into your house. Teak furniture goes well with any other teak furniture, does not matter the make, year or tonality! the rule is teak goes with teak but sometimes you can mix with afromosia and some types of walnut but not rosewood, oak, berch or other types of wood, also teak goes really well with more modern pieces like the picture below, plastic and chrome pieces are aways very welcome.
