Royal Mail Price Increase

Dear Customer,

Royal Mail have announced that there will be price increases to some of their delivery services from Tuesday 2nd April 2013.  These price increases will mainly affect 'packet' services and unfortunately the difference is staggering!

Please find below a list of the services affected:

1st Class Small Parcels: increase from £2.70 to £3.00
2nd Class Small Parcels: increase from £2.20 to £2.60
1st Class Medium Parcels: prices start from £5.65
2nd Class Medium Parcels: prices start from £5.20

Signed For 1st Class Small Parcels: prices start from £4.10
Signed For 2nd Class Small Parcels: prices start from £3.70
Signed For 1st Class Medium Parcels: prices start from £6.75
Signed For 2nd Class Medium Parcels: prices start from £6.30

As you may have realized from reading the above, Royal Mail have introduced two new parcel formats to replace the existing formats - Small Parcels and Medium Parcels.  Differentiation between the two formats comes in the form of dimensions and weight.

A parcel is regarded as 'small' if the dimensions do not exceed 45x35x8cm (LxWxD) with a weight up to 2kg.  There are some exceptions to this rule which are as follows; parcels up to and including dimensions of 16x16x16cm (LxWxD) and Roll/Cylinder shaped parcels up to and including dimensions of 45x8cm (Length x Diameter).

A parcel becomes 'medium' when its dimensions are equal or greater than 61x46x46cm (LxWxD) with a weight up to 20kg.

As with all changes, it will take some getting use to for sellers and for buyers to understand the postal service they are buying; however you can expect to see all postage rates changing from and possibly a couple of days before April 2nd.

We want our buyers to know that we do not profit from P+P charges and we will retain this promise throughout changes to Royal Mail's pricing.  Our P+P prices include delivery (mainly via Royal Mail) and packaging costs.

This guide was written to give you prior notice and inform you of the proposed changes to Royal Mail's postal services and costs.  If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact us and we will assist you as best we can.

Regards,

James
