A lot of non-fiction books and newspaper articles make references to various WWII operations, and post WWII operations. But what do they refer to? Here is a guide:

Operation Barclay: This was part of the Operation Mincemeat and various other means to convince the Germans that the allies were invading Greece and Sardinia.

Operation Mincemeat: A plan to convince the Germans that the allies were invading Greece and Sardinia, instead of Sicily.

Operation Overlord: The invasion of Normandy by the Allied forces.

Operation Paperclip: A plan by both the USA and the USSR to recruit German scientists after WWII.

Operation Sea Lion: The plan of the Germans to invade Britain, which lead to the Battle of Britain.

Operation Z: The attack on Pearl Harbor.
