I have written this guide for sellers, based on experience, in an effort to avoid clothing size discrepancies when buying on Ebay.
Although my experience has been through trying to purchase a Leather Flying Jacket. This guide will apply to the majority of clothing for sale on Ebay.
As a lot of people may already know and I have found to my financial peril is that the sizing in clothes based on S, M, L, XL, XXL etc can be vastly different from garment to garment. My partner also asures me that the 12, 14, 16 etc sizing in female clothing is just as diverse.
I have a 48" chest and when buying T-shirts, Shirts, Coats and Jackets etc have found that sometimes I require an XL and others I require an XXL. I have also had a situation where I even managed to purchase a size L that fitted perfectly. So, based on this I have come to the conclusion that it would be easier for buyers to assess whether an item for sale on Ebay is the correct size if the sellers could give some indication as to the exact size i.e 46-48, etc.
Recently I have ended up purchasing 2 leather jackets because they were advertised in the L, XL, XXL sizing guide (these were XL) only to find they are way too small.
It isn't hard for a seller to give this indication. All they have to do is measure from under the arm over the back to under the other arm of the garment and a rough indication of the chest size in inches is guaged by doubling the figure. (i.e if the measurement from arm to arm is 23 inches then the rough sizing guide will be 46" - 48".
This guide would also work for Skirts, Trousers etc that are sized in the L, XL or 12, 14, 16 etc mould. THis definitely common amongst sports gear such as track suits, vests etc.
Please, anyone selling clothing, it would be greatly appreciated if you could give a rough indication of the measurement of the garment so that buyers are not unneccesarily buying wrong size clothing. It doesn't really add a lot to your work in putting the description together and it makes the whole buying process a lot more pleasant for thr buyers if they get the corret size garment first time around.
I thank you for your patience in reading this article and thank you in anticipation of more precise clothing sizing in your auctions.
