Sellers respnsibility to ensure goods are delivered

I recently sold a pair of expensive shoes to a buyer in Japan with no feedback.

They paid via Paypal and I offered standard shipping and insured and tracked shipping which is obviously more expensive. The seller wanted to keep the shipping costs to a minimum so insisted they did not want insurance or tracking. I complied with their request and sent the shoes by the cheapest airmail method with no tracking.

Eventually I received a dispute via Paypal that the item had never been received and althogh I had the receipt for postage payment, there was no tracking number so I could not prove it had been actually delivered so am now £300 out pocket!

So all sellers, beware of this loophole! You should insist if the buyer is paying by Paypal and you are shipping the goods, get a tracking number! Or if they are collecting from you, get them to pay cash!
