This is a simple guide on how to install Nick Gray Timber Supported Snap-Down Glazing Bars for Polycarbonate Sheets.

*Please note - when ordering a Glazing Bar from Nick Gray, one end cap is supplied as standard and fitted to finish the end of the edge bar.

-Multiple thickness polycarbonate (10mm, 16mm & 25mm as standard) can be glazed using one bar. 

Polycarbonate bar fitting instructions:


-Measure and cut the polycarbonate sheet allowing an extension of approx 50mm to overhang into the gutter

- Cut the aluminium base section and uPVC top section of the glazing bar to the same length

- Drill holes to suit a 5mm wood screw (not included) in the centre of the aluminium base of the glazing bar between the toothed legs. The holes should be 100mm from each end and at no greater than 500mm intervals

-Install onto frame with suitable screws (not included)

-EPDM Gaskets as standard. Pull Gaskets apart and fit to aluminium

Polycarbonate Roofing Instructions:


- Lay polycarbonate sheets on rafters starting at one end so all sheets are in position

-The polycarbonate glazing sits on the gasket.







- Seal adequately by removing the protective film and fit the uPVC top section by pushing the legs into the slots provided in the aluminium base.

-PVCu cap snaps down into the base bar securing the polycarbonate in place.

-Complete by fitting end-closure to polycarbonate sheet and then apply end caps to uPVC top capping. End Caps are push fit for ease of application, no screws required. 

It is recommended that glazing bars should be fitted every 610-700mm. A cost effective alternative to this is to use larger Polycarboante Sheets and fix these to your joists with fixing buttons.
