A General note to all stamp collectors using E.bay

the item below appears in the  STAMP MAGAZINE NOVEMBER 2007 ( page 22. )  issue -:

FAKES APPEARING ON e.BAY

Faked GB commemoratives described as 'uncatalogued printing errors' have begun appearing on eBay, offered by a seller rejoicing underthe pseudonym of  'felicity-the-widow'.

Three had been seen as we went to press (a 1966 world cup 4d, a 1973 Indigo Jones 5p. pair and a1974 UPU Centenary 3 1/2p.) . With the promise of more to come.

Each stamp, claimed to result from 'a mistake in the printing process',  has simply had a second blurry image  intentionaly super imposed ove the original.

This effect was probably achieved by laying two copies of the same stamp face to face at some angle and applying abnormal atmospheric conditions or solvent.  Bids were placed on all three items.

Prior to reading this I had traded with this eBayer to my detriment and am now experiencing problems which are under investigation.

OTHER eBAYERS PLEASE TAKE CARE AND BE AWARE.
