SCORCHER. IPC. 10th Jan 1970-26th Jun 1971 (70 un-numbered issues. Becomes Scorcher and Score for 101 issues until 5th Oct 1974 and joins Tiger)
Free Soccer Wallchart with issue #1 (Your Team records) adds maybe £5-10 to value. There was a Soccer Wall Chart in issue #2 (Your Team Progress) and in issue #3 (Road to the FA Cup). Annuals ran from 1971 through to 1984. Not easy to find but not huge value either. Up to a fiver, maybe £10 for the first one.

SCREAM. IPC. 1 24th Mar 1984-15 30th Jun 1984 (joins Eagle)
Short-lived but culty and collectible title featuring horror and mystery stories. Pretty plentiful on E Bay but they always seem to see. I recall a #1 with free gift plastic Vampire Teeth selling for £36! A complete set with gifts sold on E Bay Nov 2007 for £64.31. There were Holiday Specials from 1985 through to 1988 and I have seen these sell at £10.

SHOOT. IPC. 16th Aug 1969-7th Jun 1974 (becomes Shoot & Goal)
Arguably the most famous football comic of them all. Watch out that early issues from 6th Sept to 4th Oct could have interior damage. In order to get the free stand-up football figures, you had to cut out coupons and small triangle tokens from corners of adverts. Annuals ran from 1971 up to 2005. Was there a 2006? Didn't see one.....

SMASH! Odhams. 1 5th Feb 1966-3rd Apr 1971 (257 issues, numbered to 162. Joins Valiant)
After the success of Wham! comes this second onomatapoeic title to be completed by Pow! in 1967. Very collectible title, especially the early issues with the Batman strip on the front cover from issue #20. The later issues in 1971 are also hard to find as publication was partly owing to shortages and strikes at the time. Watch out for issue #38 with an original UK Hulk story, not reprinted in the USA. The free gift with issue #1 Big Bang Gun adds £50-£75 to the value.

SOLO. City. 1 18th Feb 1967-31 16th Sep 1967 (joins TV Tornado)
Very collectible for the Gerry Anderson and Walt Disney content and some great covers in later issues. A very tough set to put together. One was offered on E Bay three or so years ago and went for £300+. Issue #19 saw the start of The Mark of the Mysterons strip by on Harley and also Project SWORD, the Gerry Anderson televsion series that never was. The free gift Solar Saucer with issue #1 is very rare and would add £100-£125 to the value quite easily. No annual or Summer Special for this title.

SPARKY. D.C. Thomson. 1 23rd Jan 1965-16th Jul 1977 (652 issues, joins Topper)
Increasingly collectible title and all issues turn up on E Bay. Early ones are becoming sought after. I always loved the slightly druggy Dreamy Dave and Dozy Dora strip with Alice in Wonderland type adventures. The free gift in issue #1 The Flying Snorter Balloon is very scarce and would add £50-£75 to the value though the rubber is likely to be perished by now.
