The Rules Of Mixing Different Products

Paints based on the same solvents will go together i.e Xylene with Xylene or White Spirit with White Spirit based products.
Two pack epoxy and Quick drying Xylene based paints can take any top coat.
Quick drying Xylene based products can not overcoat long oil White Spirit based Products.
You can apply long oil White Spirit based products to Two Pack Epoxy and quick drying Xylene based coatings.
If in doubt of the product preciously used, apply a long oil White Spirit based product like Brushing Enamel or Single Pack Floor Paint.

How To Use Mordant Solution / T Wash

Prepares New Galvanised Metal
Chemically Etches Galvanised Surfaces

Water-Based Product
Suitable for use on new galvanised metal.

To get the best results, ensure surfaces to bepainted are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces
particularly must be fully dry) and free from all
defective or poorly adhering material such as dirt,
grease and wax.

Degrease where necessary with a suitable oil andgrease remover. Rinse with clean water to remove
residues.

Apply a liberal coat of  MordantSolution by brush and allow to dry.

If the surfacefails to turn black overall, the most likely cause is
contamination of the surface or the presence of a
factory applied pretreatment. Rinse the surface
thoroughly and abrade, using a suitable abrasive
paper. Remove all residues and re-apply,

Avoid over-applicationas pooling of the wash will result in the formation
of a fine brown deposit of copper.

After treatment the surface must be rinsed withclean water to remove all residues and then
allowed to dry before priming.

The pre-treated surface should be overcoatedwith an appropriate  metal primer
within 48 hours or before contamination can
recur.

Brush only. Do not spray.
10 meters squared per litre.

 GENERAL FLOOR PREPARATION GUIDE

Two coats of paint are always recommended 1st coat primes and seals the floor. 2nd coat provides good colour build, protection and longevity of the coating.

With any floor coating preparation is an essential key to extend the protection and lifespan of the coating. To prepare a bare (rough) concrete floor prior to painting we always recommend a light abrasion first; this can be done either by a scarifying machine or track blasting (most effective method). This allows the paint to create a good lock and key effect with the concrete which then leads to much better adhesion.
If the floor has been power floated or is generally very shiny, the floor paint will not adhere to this surface. It is recommended to trackblast the concrete to remove most of the top layer prior to painting. The structure of the top layer in a power floated concrete floor is generally unstable and easy to damage this is due to one small partial size been pushed to the top. If trackblasting in not an economical scenario, you can use a scarifying machine or a concentrated Acid Descaler to etch the floor.
After the floor has been abraded, we then recommend degreasing the area, removing dust and anyyd a the floor.ing ical hed to the top layer unstable and easily damaged.
the Christmas holidays they know the pa loose parts. If floors are heavily penetrated with any sort of contamination it is important to remove it all before coating, the most effective way is to have the floor steam cleaned. Remember this will add moisture into the floor, so time will have to be allowed for the moisture to escape. If the floor has light or no contamination just a quick mop around with our Degreasing Solvent or Acid Descaler will suffice. Again ‘preparation’ is key for a good floor coating, should any moisture or contamination be trapped in the substrate the paint will simply blister and blow off.

How Much Thinner To Use And Which One

Generally speaking 10% thinners is the recommended however it is down to personal preference depending on person, equipment and conditions.
Over thinning will cause less body in the paint and coverage and opacity will be reduce.
Spraying airless or air assisted airless usually no thinning will be required.
Choosing thinners? Generally it’s recommended to use the same solvents as the paint is based on.
Be careful if using Xylene or Universal thinners in long oil White spirit based products, when over coating pickling can occur.
Never use Standard Thinners / Gun Cleaners in paint only use for cleaning.

PANTING FIBERGLASS

There is two pack and single pack fibreglass primers
Ensure fibreglass is free from contamination, loose pieces and dust
Two pack fibreglass primer is a harder finish but is not as flexible
After priming overcoat after 12 hours for the two pack and after 1 hour for the single pack
Apply your top coat if required pretty much any top coat can be used on either fibreglass primer.

FLOOR PREPARATION FOR NON-SLIP FLOOR PAINTS

Excellent for areas prone to moisture and spillages

Be cautious of using solvent based two pack epoxy over existing floor coatings as solvents may attack the existing paint. If un-sure use solvent free or single pack floor paint.

Two coats of paint are always recommended 1st coat primes and seals the floor. 2nd coat provides good colour build, protection and longevity of the coating.

For the First coat use a the same product as you need in non slip (single pack or two pack) but as a smooth finish this will make it easier to apply the non-slip coating and provide a more even non slip finish.
Use two pack epoxy for all kinds of traffic single pack is more meant for light to medium areas of foot traffic.

When painting any concrete floor it is important that the moisture content of the concrete is no greater than 5%.
Ensure that there is an ambient temperature of 10˚C for two pack epoxy.
Green concrete is best left for at least 2-3 months before coating.

Two Pack Epoxy as the name suggests has two component that must be mixed together thoroughly to ensure an even cure occurs.
Two Pack Epoxy’s mixing ratio is 4 parts of paint to 1 part of Two Pack Epoxy Catalyst.
Two Pack Epoxy as a Pack so there is no confusion to whether the customer needs to purchase the correct catalyst separately. It is important to thoroughly mix the paint 4:1 with the catalyst,
When using two pack epoxy we recommend mixing with a pneumatic drill and a mixing paddle, to ensure an even dispersion.

Two Pack Epoxy has a mixed pot life of around 8 hours.

can be easily applied by brush, roller and suitable spray application.
ENSURE THERE IS GOOD VENTILATION WHEN USING SOLVENT BASED PAINTS.
Leave the first coat to dry for 12 hours or overnight before overcoating with the second coat.
If the first coat has been left for 24 hours or more before overcoating then a light abrasion will be required for the second coat to adhere to the first.
Manufacturer’s guidelines are that any type of paint will need 7 days for the coating to reach its full properties.

BEST PRODUCTS TO PROVIDE LONG LASTING ANTI-CORROSION PROTECTION.

FIRST USE AN ETCH PRIMER (TWO PACK ETCH PRIMER IS RECOMMENDED)

SECOND USE A ZINC RICH PRIMER (TWO PACK ZINC RICH IS RECOMMENDED)
NEXT YOU CAN USE A TWO PACK MIO IF YOU ARE USING EPOXY PRIMERS, THIS IS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL.

HOW THE MIO WORKS IS THE PIGMENTS USED ARE DESIGNED AS PLATELETS THAT LOCK TOGETHER WHEN DRY TO COMPLETELY LOCK OUT ANY MOISTURE.

THIRD USE AN INTERMEDIATE PRIMER (ZINC RICH IS A SACRIFICIAL PRIMER PROVIDING THE BEST ANTI-CORROSIVE PROPERTIES) TO SUIT IF YOU HAVE USED THE SINGLE PACK ZINC RICH PRIMER OR COLD GALVE YOU WILL NEED TO USE THE BRUSHING PRIMER. OR USE THE TWO PACK EPOXY HB ZP PRIMER IF YOU ARE USING THE TWO PACK EPOXY SYSTEM.

NOW APPLY YOUR TOP COAT IF USING THE SINGLE PACK OPTIONS YOU WILL NEED A BRUSHING ENAMEL. IF USING THE EPOXY SYSTEM YOU CAN USE ANY TOP COAT.

THESE ARE SOME THAT WE WOULD RECOMMEND ON USING THE EPOXY SYSTEM.

EPOXY TOP COAT (PAINT WILL CHALK OVER TIME THIS IS THE WAY THE COATING PROVIDES PROTECTION.

OR

YOU CAN USE A 2K ACRYLIC THAT PROVIDES HIGH GLOSS SCRATCH RESISTANCE AND LONG LASTING PROTECTION.
